Mexican companies set up chamber of commerce in the European Union

Its offices will be located in the Schuman Roundabout, which is considered the symbolic “power centre” of the region because of its proximity to the European Commission.

Mexican companies will go out to fight for their interests in Europe in the face of the neglect of national authorities, which is why they created the Mexico-European Union Chamber of Commerce (MexChamEU). Its offices will be located in the Schuman Roundabout in Brussels, Belgium, considered the symbolic “power centre” of the region because of its proximity to the European Commission and the Council of Europe, the representative body of the member states.

It is constituted in Brussels with the capacity to deal with the European Commission, and with the purpose of encouraging and protecting the interests of national companies before that institution in charge of regulation and technical issues for exporting and importing,” Mexico’s ambassador to the European Union (EU), Rogelio Grangillhome Morfín, told MILENIO.

“”In Mexico, businessmen are very aware of what happens in the United States, but not in Europe. So there are a series of regulations on this side of the world that affect the interests of Mexican exporters and they don’t know it,” lamented César Guerra Guerrero, who will serve as secretary general and treasurer of the chamber.”

For this reason, they will also participate in the creation of a document to advance the modernisation of the free trade agreement between Mexico and the European Union, as he was previously a consultant who was part of the team of negotiators for the modernisation of the treaty when he served as an official of the Ministry of Economy.

“There is no knowledge that they, the businessmen, can have an opinion that the European Commission or the European Parliament can take into account, see that there is a concern on the Mexican side and consider whether it fits into the regulations they are preparing,” he added.”

The MexChamEU, which will be chaired by Gökham Kantarcigil, director of O’life Natural, has as its first mission to give visibility to Mexican companies that are not normally protected in their country of origin.
